Website Training/Defense Bar Meeting Wednesday, February 22, 5pm

From Rodney G. Hasty:

I am pleased to announce on behalf of the District Attorney that the Community Access Portal website we previewed with you a few months ago is nearing prime time.

The website has an Attorney Secure Access portion that  includes the ability to electronically enter an appearance and request continuances for Admin cases, request bond hearings, report scheduling issues, obtain PDF driving records, and much more.  We’re excited to test this and we’re hopeful that this will save everyone significant resources.

THE TRAINING IS FOR THE DEFENSE BAR AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS. The training will be held in the Training Room at the Sheriff’s Dept. on the 4th floor of the Judicial Complex.  We will go through the entire Attorney Secure Access section and explain, answer questions, and generally familiarize you with its capabilities.   We would like for folks to bring their laptops, iPads, phones, and other mobile devices to the training so we can do some things live. We are going to then ask you to help us test it for some period of time before it’s finalized to go live.  We really want this to work, so we need your help!

Just to be completely clear, the website is NOT live yet and will not go live until after some testing period after the training.  The live date will depend largely on the results of the testing and what, if any, additional work needs to be done.   We also need to review the final version with the Judges and the Clerk before the live date.  We are going to make the website accessible to you for the training (and then the testing), but it will NOT be used for any real case until it fully goes live at some later date.

There will also be time set aside for general discussion of current issues, updates, and hopefully an answer to a couple of things that came up at the last meeting.   I will get an agenda together in advance- I think I know the usual suspects as far as issues, but if there’s anything specific you want to make sure gets discussed just let me know.  I’ll try to have the agenda completed and out at least a week in advance.
