Starling B. Underwood, III Named To The NC State Bar Grievenance and Authorized To Practice Committees
McGuire, Wood & Bissette attorney Starling B. Underwood, III has been appointed to the NC State Bar Grievance Committee as an Advisory Member. The Grievance Committee includes lawyer-volunteers from across the state and some non-lawyers. When a complaint against an attorney is referred to the Committee by the State Bar, the committee members’ job is to review the complaint, the lawyer’s response, and the results of the investigation and decide if there is enough evidence to prove that the lawyer did something unethical.
Mr. Underwood has also been appointed as an Advisory Member by the NC State Bar Council to the Authorized to Practice Committee. The Authorized Practice Committee is a standing committee of the State Bar charged with investigating and acting upon allegations of unauthorized practice of law.
Starling Underwood is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group and assists clients with legal matters related to contractual disputes, debt collection, and labor and employment. Mr. Underwood assists clients take legal action against individuals and businesses that may owe the client money, as well as defending clients from individuals or businesses in state and federal court.
