Special Film Screening & Event to Benefit LEAF School & Streets
Dear Fellow Attorneys,
I am a member of the Board of Directors of LEAF, an exceptional organization dedicated to arts education.
Please join me at a special benefit for LEAF, a one-time screening of the film Defiant Requiem, on November 7, 2013 at 7 P.M at the Fine Arts Theatre.
Defiant Requiem highlights the most dramatic example of intellectual and artistic courage in the concentration camp of Theresienstadt (Terezin) during World War II. The film presents the remarkable story of a young and passionate Czech conductor determined to put on Verdi’s Requiem in spite of his surroundings. This is a film about how a rare form of courage, hope, and survival sparked an entirely unique method of fighting Nazi oppression, enabling the prisoners to maintain their dignity and humanity using the best of mankind to battle the worst of mankind.
All proceeds from this event will benefit LEAF Schools & Streets, our local arts education outreach program, which matches artists with youth in schools and communities for hands-on workshops, residencies, interactive performances, and mentoring that includes opportunities to perform with the artists at LEAF and beyond.
I believe the film represents what LEAF School & Streets is all about-how the arts can help people rise in the face of adversity. Please consider attending this event to support LEAF’s efforts.
Very truly yours,
Bob
