I concentrate my practice broadly in real estate – including residential and commercial closings and refinances; planning, zoning, and other governmental approval and compliance; homeowners association formation, operation, dues collections, and disputes; enforcement of contractor's liens; easements; and boundary and title disputes. I also advise clients on business formation, operation, transactions, dissolution, and disputes. I also maintain a practice in estate planning and administration.

I am admitted to practice before North Carolina State Courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of North Carolina.

I am a native of Asheville and am active in numerous community activities. My past or present board and committee positions include Quality Forward (now Asheville GreenWorks), Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy Land Management Committee, Asheville Design Center I-26 Task Force, and Unitarian-Universalist Church of Asheville.

I have provided pro bono advice to various community groups on issues involving public housing authorities, conditional use permitting and zoning, and transportation. I periodically teach the legal component of first time homebuyer’s classes offered by OnTrack Financial Education and Counseling.
