Pro Bono Celebration Honors Local Volunteers
The Buncombe County Bar will hold its annual Pro Bono Celebration on Wed, May 12th at 12:30pm on Zoom. At this event we will share the impact of our Bar’s pro bono contributions during the pandemic and recognize and appreciate the hundreds of attorneys in our community that share their time and expertise to help our neighbors meet their most basic needs – housing, safety from abuse, income, health care and more. This year the Bar will give pro bono awards to the following attorneys:
Lifetime Pro Bono Service Award – Bill Christy
Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award – Jean Lee
Emeritus Lawyer Pro Bono Award – Julie Northup and Vann Vogel
Younger Lawyer Pro Bono Award – Barrett McFatter
Collaborative Legal Project Pro Bono Award – Unemployment Insurance Benefit Project
We will also recognize attorneys who have retired this year or will retire in 2021 who have handled 50 or more pro bono cases in our community over the course of their career.
