The County is offering a new photo identification card that will allow Bar members to bypass the metal detector at the Courthouse entrance, and will allow entrance to secure areas in the criminal district court of the new Buncombe County Judicial Complex. These cards will be available Thursday from 10 am to 1 pm in the first floor conference room of the Interchange Building at 59 Woodfin Place. (They will also be available at a later date.)
Attorneys who don’t want to get a photo identification card will still have access to the courthouse and courtrooms, but will need to go through the metal detectors and will need someone to access the secure areas for them.
The cost for the cards is $25 with an annual renewal fee of $15. The cost for replacing a lost card will be $10. Checks are to be made payable to the County of Buncombe. Click here for the application form.
