YLD Hike at Beaucatcher Mountain
The Young Lawyers Division is excited to focus this year on increasing attendance, creating stronger connections among members, and expanding our involvement in the community. We hope to make our events more accessible, engaging, and welcoming for both new and longtime members. To kick things off, we’re hosting a casual group hike on Saturday, 6/20 at noon at Beaucatcher Mountain. The trail is a short loop in Asheville and should only take about an hour, making it an easy and fun way to connect outside the office. We encourage everyone to bring spouses, friends, or summer associates. The more the merrier. Be sure to bring water and comfortable shoes.
There is no need to RSVP, but if you have any questions, feel free to contact Benjamin Waldman, Martha Schull, or Mary Catherine Baker at BuncombeYLD@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing everyone there and building a stronger Young Lawyers Division together!

YLD - 3rd Thursdays at Highland Brewery
The Buncombe County Young Lawyers Division is excited to announce the launch of our new “Third Thursdays” gatherings at Highland Brewing. These recurring monthly meetups are part of a renewed effort to strengthen the YLD by increasing involvement, improving attendance, and creating more meaningful connections among young lawyers in Buncombe County. Beginning Thursday, July 16, we will meet every third Thursday from 6–8 PM at Highland Brewing. Attendees are welcome to arrive earlier or stay later, and at least one YLD Officers (Benjamin Waldman, Martha Schull, or Mary Catherine Baker)will be present at every event.
These gatherings are intended to provide a consistent, welcoming, and low-pressure opportunity for young lawyers to build camaraderie, develop professional relationships, and become more connected to the Buncombe County legal community. Whether you are a new attorney, longtime practitioner, clerk, or summer associate, we would love to have you join us. Attendance is free, though drinks are buy-your-own.
We strongly encourage every Buncombe County law firm to invite and encourage its summer associates to attend Third Thursdays as a way to meet local attorneys and become involved in the Asheville legal community early in their careers.
No RSVP is necessary, and we hope to see you there as we work together to revitalize and grow the Young Lawyers Division. If you have questions, ideas for future events, or interest in partnerships or collaborations, please contact Benjamin Waldman, Martha Schull, and Mary Catherine Baker at BuncombeYLD@gmail.com.
