Weekly Bar Briefs - April 7, 2026

Dear Buncombe Bar Members,

It is beyond the deadline to order a lunch, but you can still register to attend the CLE taking place tomorrow at 12:30 at the YMI Cultural Center. Our presenter this month is Camille Stell presenting a one hour CLE, which fulfills the State Bar’s technology requirement. Camille is President of Lawyers Mutual Consulting and Services, offering succession planning, business development coaching, keynote presentations and more.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has moved from being an experimental, futuristic concept to a practical, everyday tool inside law firms of all sizes. According to the 2024 Clio Legal Trends Report, 79% of lawyers now use AI in their practice, and Thomson Reuters reports that 77% of legal professionals expect AI to have a transformational impact within the next five years. The question firms must now ask is no longer “Should we use AI?” but “How should we use AI strategically, ethically, and profitably?” The answer begins with understanding the technology, assessing your firm’s needs, and creating a thoughtful approach to adoption. Click here to register for the CLE.
