Joseph Knight has tendered his resignation as the Small Claims magistrate effective July 31, 2025, and will be returning to the practice of law. Joe began his courthouse career as a deputy sheriff assigned to Booking and Holding in July 1990. Through the years, he also served as a Court Security Officer, D.A. Investigator, Pretrial Release Case Manager and reserve deputy. After attending N.C. Central Law School (1997-2000), Joe practiced criminal defense and family law before being assigned to Small Claims Court on October 1, 2007.
