In Memoriam: William (Bill) Cagle Sr.

We regret to inform you that William Baird Cagle, Sr. (Bill), 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Greenville, SC on January 14, 2021. A native of Asheville and a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, he earned his Juris Doctorate from Washington University in St Louis. After returning to Asheville in the early 1960’s, he practiced law for over 50 years.

Bill was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities over the years. He was a member of The Rhododendron Royal Brigade of Guards and served on the board of Givens Estates. He loved to play golf and go to Litchfield Beach, SC. Around town, he was known as being helpful in many ways and having a very kind heart.

Bill is survived by his son, Chip Cagle (Shannon) of Greenville, SC; his daughter, Cathy Cagle Kirchner of Charlotte; grandchildren, Michelle Kirchner, Courtney Kirchner, Will Cagle, Hanna Berretta, and Laura Berretta; brother, Roy Cagle of Evans, GA and 3 nephews and their families.

A memorial service will be planned in Asheville for later this year. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to Central United Methodist Church of Asheville.
