The Van Winkle Law Firm announced today attorneys Heather Whitaker Goldstein and Brian T. Lawler will lead the firm’s Elder Law practice, providing long-term healthcare planning, incapacity and estate planning, fiduciary services, administration of trusts and estates, and dispute resolution.
Goldstein and Lawler assist clients in developing dynamic plans suited to address the unpredictability of living longer, healthier lives. They counsel individuals and family members through the implementation of these plans, and provide advocacy when clients’ needs change, conflicts arise, or a vulnerable adult is at risk of financial exploitation. In addition to consulting with clients at the firm’s three office locations, the attorneys meet with clients in their homes and communities if unable to travel.
Goldstein’s work with the aging community includes nine years as the director of a local nonprofit providing elder respite care, caregiver support groups, case management and counseling. She is also an experienced litigator and a strong client advocate, both in and out of the courtroom.
Prior to joining Van Winkle, Lawler worked as a social service professional serving children, families and adults throughout Western North Carolina. He is uniquely qualified to assess and support the complex needs of clients navigating the network of legal, medical and community resources.
