From Bar President Natalie Bacon
Dear Members of the Buncombe County Bar:
We need your input!
As a local Bar President, I wanted to reach out to you with an update on the North Carolina Commission on Administrative Law & Justice (NCCALJ). Chief Justice Martin convened the Commission in September 2015 to evaluate our justice system and provide recommendations for strengthening our courts. The Commission released its interim reports Tuesday, July 19th and has scheduled four public hearings across the state in August.
I need your help with two things: 1) Please review the interim reports; 2) Attend one of the public hearings scheduled for August and/or provide online comment. To view the interim reports and see the time and location for the hearings please click here.
A public hearing has been scheduled in Asheville as follows:
Thursday, August 18th
6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Buncombe County Judicial Complex
Jury Assembly Suite
2nd Floor – Room 272
60 Court Plaza
Asheville, NC 28801
The NCCALJ’s work is providing a unique opportunity for attorneys across the state to provide feedback on ways to improve the administration of justice in North Carolina. Thank you for adding your expertise and insight to the Commission’s work.
Sincerely,
Natalie W. Bacon
Buncombe County Bar Bar President
