Would you like to feel more resilient and less stressed? Once again, the Buncombe County Bar is partnering with Laura Mahr of Conscious Legal Minds LLC to offer a mindfulness meditation CLE course. This year, there will be two courses (Level One and Level Two) that run simultaneously, starting April 7 and ending May 8 (with a week break on April 10 for the BCB April meeting). Level One course is open to any interested BCB attorney or judge (no prior mindfulness or meditation experience required). Level Two course is open to lawyers or judges who have already completed the Level One “Mindfulness Meditation for Building Resilience to Stress” course OR those with a regular meditation practice.

Course Dates:
Level One: Wednesdays from 11:45am-12:45pm, April 3, 17, 24, and May 1, 8, 2019.
Level Two*: Wednesdays from 1pm-2pm, April 3, 17, 24, and May 1, 8, 2019.
Course Location: Buncombe County Bar Office, Courthouse 8th Floor
Cost: The total cost for the 5 hour course (1 hour a week for 5 weeks) is $100.00; if you want CLE credit, the course is $125. You must register and pay for the entire course (no “pay per class” option). It is ok to miss a class or two, though CLE credit will only be given for classes attended. Register and pay for the class below; the CLE credit will be billed separately at the time of the first class.

What you will learn: These cutting edge trainings will teach you the scientific theory behind mindfulness and offer mindfulness and neuroscience based practices that you can put to use in your work day. At the end of your course, you will have a personalized mindfulness toolkit that you can implement at work or home to increase your productivity, reduce stress, better deal with challenging cases and clients, and more fully enjoy your work and your life. This course has been approved for both mental health/professional responsibility and general CLE credit in the past by the NC State Bar, and is pending approval for this course. Read an article about a previous Level One class:

Why 5 weeks: The Bar is offering this CLE as a 5 week course to provide you with new ways to improve your overall well-being and build resilience. Neuroscience research shows that mindfulness tools practiced over the course of time are more effective in changing habits that promote well-being than those learned in a single sitting.
