12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Hilton Garden Inn

Buncombe County is at the forefront among North Carolina jurisdictions in implementing major criminal justice reforms.  These reforms led to the selection of Buncombe to be a recipient of the prestigious $1.75 million Safety and Justice Challenge grant through the McArthur foundation.  Learn more about these reforms and how to use them in your legal practice.

Bar members may join us for a great buffet lunch and an entertaining program for only $15. Those who wish to stay for an extra 30 minutes may earn 1 general credit of CLE for an additional $25. (Choose the Lunch AND CLE option for $40 if you want to eat lunch and get CLE credit.) The luncheon takes place at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Asheville and an RSVP is required. Seating is limited; sign up below. Members of the Buncombe County Bar are always welcome to attend the business meeting (without eating) for no charge.

The program includes an introduction of the Justice Resource Center, and an overview of the following:

  • Safety and Justice Challenge grant and goals of the reforms made possible by the grant
  • Juvenile Misdemeanor Diversion Program
  • Adult Misdemeanor Diversion Program
