Deutsch & Gottschalk and Barbour, Searson, Jones & Cash to practice together as of January 1

Deutsch & Gottschalk and Barbour, Searson, Jones & Cash are pleased to announce that beginning  January 1, 2024, we will practice together as Searson, Jones, Gottschalk & Cash, PLLC. Bob Deutsch and Fred Barbour will continue to practice with us as of counsel, and Elizabeth Newman as an associate.

Our firm will continue serving individual clients and businesses throughout Western North Carolina and beyond.

We seek creative solutions to the difficult and complex legal problems that arise in business disputes, estate and inheritance controversies, insurance disputes, personal injury and wrongful death cases, professional liability, white and blue-collar criminal defense, commercial real estate transactions and estate administration. We provide advice and counsel to clients on the best way to resolve a problem before it becomes a lawsuit or indictment.

We enjoy working with other attorneys and law firms. Please let us know if we can assist you and your clients.

About William Searson

We are problem solvers for our clients. Our entire practice is assisting clients in disputed matters. Each of our four attorneys has more than 20 years of experience in achieving resolution of difficult problems for our clients. Collectively, we have tried hundreds of cases to verdict. That experience guides our evaluation and preparation of cases. Our attorneys successfully resolve many conflicts by mediation and negotiation. We understand that every case and client is different. We serve our clients by listening to their needs, applying our knowledge and experience, working diligently, and keeping them informed. A majority of the cases we handle are referrals from lawyers, court personnel, or clients. If you have a civil dispute with someone or a company, you have two options: settlement or trial. Sometimes trial is the best option, but not usually. Settlement is often the best option, so long as it is voluntary and not because you have no other choice. There are other firms with large advertising budgets which will be happy to settle all sorts of cases, but rarely go to trial. Here you have a choice. The good news is that the likelihood of a favorable settlement increases when your lawyer is willing and capable of taking the case to trial, if necessary. That is what we do.
