Gary S. Cash, J.D., was a District Court Judge in Judicial District 28 (Buncombe County) for twenty-five years until his retirement on January 1, 2011. He served as the District’s Chief Judge for the eight years before he stepped down from the bench.

Prior to being first elected to the bench in 1986, Judge Cash worked in Asheville for ten years as a general practitioner in the private practice of law. He has held numerous judicial leadership positions including serving as President of the Conference of Chief District Court Judges, President of the N.C. Association of District Court Judges, and as a Director of the N.C. Joint Judicial Conference.
