The Van Winkle Law Firm announced today that it has added two new associate attorneys to its legal team. Attorneys Delia R. Ledesma and Marie Claire O’Leary Smith have joined the team of lawyers in their Asheville office.

Ms. Ledesma’s practice focuses on divorce, custody, and the trial of family law matters. Delia is completely bilingual in Spanish and performs all legal work effectively and efficiently in both languages. Prior to joining the Van Winkle Law Firm, Delia worked in private practice as an immigration attorney, and as a family law attorney. Most recently, Delia worked as a domestic violence and family law attorney for Legal Aid of North Carolina, gaining significant trial experience. Prior to graduating from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2016, Delia obtained a B.A. in both English and Psychology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Delia is also admitted to practice in the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians’ Tribal Court.

Ms. O’Leary Smith focuses her practice on civil litigation and criminal law. She was born and raised just down the mountain in Chimney Rock, NC. Prior to graduating from American University Washington College of Law in 2019, Marie Claire obtained a B.A. in both English and Political Science with a Minor in Hispanic Studies from UNC Chapel Hill. She began her legal career at a small firm in Wilson, NC as a criminal defense attorney. As an attorney, Marie Claire enjoys being in court as much as possible and working with clients.

The Van Winkle Law Firm announced today that it has promoted three attorneys to partner. Attorneys Koral Alman and Anderson Ellis from Hendersonville and Jonathan Dunlap from Asheville were advanced to partner at the firm’s year-end meeting in January 2021.

Mrs. Alman’s practice focuses primarily on trust and estate planning and administration. She works closely with clients to determine their specific goals and develop a customized plan to meet their unique needs. In addition to being licensed in North Carolina, she is also licensed in Florida. Mr. Ellis works with local, regional, and national businesses through all stages of development and growth, including business formation, mergers and acquisitions, and general operations. Mr. Ellis is licensed in North Carolina and Tennessee. Mr. Dunlap handles appeals as well as complex litigation matters involving healthcare, land use, construction, employment, and business law. He holds licenses in both North Carolina and South Carolina.

The Van Winkle Law Firm Welcomes Attorney Nevin Wisnoski

The Van Winkle Law Firm announced today that Nevin Wisnoski has joined the firm as an associate attorney in its litigation practice group, where he focuses on federal Indian and tribal law, commercial disputes, and a variety of tort matters. Prior to joining The Van Winkle Law Firm, Wisnoski clerked for a boutique federal Indian law firm in South Florida, working on various federal, state and tribal matters. These include cases heard in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Supreme Court, Federal Tax Court and the Third District Court of Appeal of Florida.

Wisnoski obtained his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from North Carolina State University in 2016 and his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Miami School of Law in 2019. He is an Asheville native and a graduate of Asheville High School.

Wisnoski is a member of the American Bar Association, Buncombe County Bar, North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association and Federal Bar Association, Indian Law Section.
